Opalite is man-made glass, engineered to catch and hold light with a milky, faintly blue-and-orange glow reminiscent of opal, which is exactly where the resemblance ends — it shares no mineral relationship with genuine opal at all. It became popular through New Age jewellery in the latter half of the twentieth century, valued for looking otherworldly at an accessible price.

It's made rather than mined, and every batch is consistent in a way that natural stone never is.

Opalite is worked with for a sense of calm and gentle clarity — light and easy to carry, without any of the water sensitivity real opal requires. It sits with the crown and third eye.
