Amethyst — The stone of the quiet mind
For the mind that won't switch off.
Amethyst is quartz turned violet by traces of iron and natural irradiation over millions of years. Colour runs from the palest lilac at the base of a point to a deep royal purple at the tip — and in chevron amethyst, it bands with white quartz in sharp V shapes you can trace with a fingernail.
It has been the stone of clarity since antiquity. The Greeks named it amethystos, "not intoxicated," and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief it would keep the head clear. Medieval bishops wore it on the hand that gave blessings.
Amethyst is worked with for calm and for clear thinking — the two usually arrive together. It sits with the third eye and crown, the centres associated with insight and perspective, which is why it turns up in almost every meditation practice and on almost every bedside table.

Keep it where you rest or where you think. It's a settling stone, not an activating one.

Care
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight — amethyst fades to pale over time. Water is safe. Cleanse with smoke, sound or moonlight.
Orgonite — Crystal and metal
Not a stone, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Orgonite is a made object: crystals and metal shavings suspended in cured resin. It's based on the work of Wilhelm Reich, an Austrian psychoanalyst who in the 1930s and 40s theorised a form of energy he called orgone, and built devices layering organic and inorganic material to interact with it. The modern craft version dates to the 1990s.
There's no scientific consensus behind it, and we'd rather say so than imply one. What's true is that each piece is cast individually, so the internal pattern of metal and crystal is never quite repeated, and people keep them near electronics or in workspaces.
If you're drawn to it, it's worth having. If you want a natural mineral, look at black tourmaline or shungite instead.
