Okenite — A cluster that looks like fur

For softness that still holds its shape.

Okenite forms in soft, cotton-ball-like clusters of extremely fine calcium silicate fibres, unlike almost anything else on the shelf — it genuinely looks more like spun fibre than stone. It's named after Lorenz Oken, the German naturalist, and it grows almost exclusively in two places: the Deccan Traps of India and, more rarely, the Faroe Islands.

Despite its soft appearance, each fibre is a true crystal, packed together so densely that the cluster holds its rounded shape without any binding agent.

Okenite is worked with for gentle emotional softening — a stone people hold rather than carry, valued as much for its unusual texture as for anything else. It sits with the heart and crown.

Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.

Extremely delicate — display only, avoid touching the fibres directly.
