Mookaite — Australian, and only Australian
From one place on earth, and that place is here.
Mookaite comes from Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia, and nowhere else. Mooka is Aboriginal for running waters. It's a fossilised radiolarite — the silica remains of marine microorganisms laid down when this part of the country was seabed, roughly 120 million years ago.
The colours run mustard, burgundy, cream and plum, often in the same slab, and they come from iron oxides in the sediment.
Mookaite is worked with for grounding and for physical vitality — the practical end of things rather than the contemplative. It sits with the root and solar plexus. If you want a stone with a connection to this continent, this is the one.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
