Amethyst — The stone of the quiet mind
For the mind that won't switch off.
Amethyst is quartz turned violet by traces of iron and natural irradiation over millions of years. Colour runs from the palest lilac at the base of a point to a deep royal purple at the tip — and in chevron amethyst, it bands with white quartz in sharp V shapes you can trace with a fingernail.
It has been the stone of clarity since antiquity. The Greeks named it amethystos, "not intoxicated," and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief it would keep the head clear. Medieval bishops wore it on the hand that gave blessings.
Amethyst is worked with for calm and for clear thinking — the two usually arrive together. It sits with the third eye and crown, the centres associated with insight and perspective, which is why it turns up in almost every meditation practice and on almost every bedside table.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast. Nothing leaves as just a stone.
Keep it where you rest or where you think. It's a settling stone, not an activating one.

Care
Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight — amethyst fades to pale over time. Water is safe. Cleanse with smoke, sound or moonlight.
Lavender Quartz — The softest violet in the quartz family
For calm that's soft rather than heavy.
Lavender quartz is a pale violet variety of quartz, its colour coming from trace manganese or natural irradiation within the crystal, lighter and more delicate than amethyst's deeper purple though the two sit in the same colour family. Most of what's available comes from Brazil and Madagascar, generally as clusters and points rather than large single crystals.
It's easy to mistake for pale amethyst at a glance, and the line between the two is genuinely a matter of degree rather than a hard boundary.
Lavender quartz is worked with for gentle calm and emotional softness — a lighter touch than amethyst, without losing the clarity quartz generally brings. It sits with the heart, third eye and crown.
