Lapis Lazuli — The blue of kings
For a mind that wants to see clearly, and speak just as clearly.
Lapis lazuli isn't a single mineral but a rock — mostly lazurite, threaded with white calcite and flecked with pyrite that catches the light like scattered gold. Afghanistan's Sar-i-Sang mines have supplied it for over six thousand years, making lapis one of the longest continuously mined materials on earth. Ancient Egypt used it for burial masks and jewellery, most famously in Tutankhamun's death mask, and for centuries it was ground into ultramarine, a pigment so labour-intensive to produce that it was at times worth more than gold.
The best pieces show an even, deep blue with fine gold pyrite scattered through rather than large chalky calcite patches.
Lapis lazuli is worked with for insight and honest communication — a stone that has carried royal and spiritual weight across nearly every culture that's had access to it. It sits with the third eye and throat.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
