Kunzite Natural Necklace

Kunzite is a soft pink to lilac form of spodumene, first described in 1902 by George Frederick Kunz, the gemologist behind many of Tiffany & Co.'s most significant finds — the stone is named directly after him. Its colour is genuinely light-sensitive: prolonged exposure to strong sun will fade it over time, which is unusual enough among coloured stones that it's one of the first things worth knowing before displaying a piece.

Most of what's available today comes from Afghanistan, Brazil and Madagascar, typically in long, flat, striated crystals.

Kunzite is worked with for tender, unguarded love — a softer, more vulnerable register than rose quartz's steadier warmth. It sits with the heart.
