Jade — Nephrite or Jadeite
For strength held quietly, over a very long time.
What's sold as jade is actually two different minerals — nephrite and jadeite — that share a name because they look similar and were historically impossible to tell apart without modern testing. China has worked nephrite for more than eight thousand years, and the distinction between the two still matters enormously there: jadeite, mostly from Myanmar, is the more recent arrival, prized since the eighteenth century for its more vivid, translucent green, while nephrite carries the older, deeper cultural weight.
Both are exceptionally tough — jade doesn't shatter the way most gemstones do, which is part of why it was carved into tools as well as ornament for millennia.
Jade is worked with for harmony and quiet prosperity — one of the most consistently valued stones across human history. It sits with the heart.
