Garnet — The stone of the return
For commitment rather than beginning.
Garnet isn't one mineral but a family of them — almandine, pyrope, spessartine, grossular, andradite — sharing a crystal structure and ranging from the familiar deep red through orange, green and even colour-change varieties. The name comes from granatum, pomegranate, for the seed-like crystals.
It has been set into jewellery for five thousand years. Bohemian garnet was so fashionable in nineteenth-century Europe that entire towns worked nothing else, and Anglo-Saxon garnet cloisonné turns up in the Sutton Hoo burial.
Garnet is worked with for commitment, endurance and the vitality to see something through. It sits with the root and heart. Traditionally the stone of safe return — carried by travellers who intended to come back.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
