Fulgurite — Sand struck by lightning
For proof that transformation can happen in an instant.
Fulgurite forms when lightning strikes sand or rock directly, and in a fraction of a second, heat exceeding 1,800 degrees Celsius fuses the silica into a hollow, glassy tube that traces the exact path the bolt travelled underground. The name comes from the Latin fulgur, lightning. Most of what's available comes from the Sahara or sandy regions of the United States where storms are frequent and the ground is right for it.
No two tubes look alike — each one is a literal cast of a single, unrepeatable event, branching and narrowing exactly where the electricity did.
Fulgurite is worked with for sudden clarity and rapid transformation — change that doesn't wait for the slow route. It sits with the root and crown.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
Fragile and hollow — handle with care, avoid dropping.
