Fuchsite — The stone of quiet resilience
The green glitter inside other stones.
Fuchsite is a chromium-rich muscovite mica, and it's what puts the sparkle in green aventurine and the green in ruby fuchsite. On its own it's a soft, flaky, brilliant green that comes apart in sheets — mica cleaves so cleanly it was once used as window glass and furnace peepholes.
It's named for Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs, a Bavarian chemist who also invented water glass.
Fuchsite is worked with for renewal and for the heart — it has a reputation as a stone of resilience, and it's frequently paired with ruby, which grows alongside it in the same Indian rock. It sits with the heart.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
Very soft. Handle it as you would something that flakes, because it does.
