Dumortierite — The stone of quiet patience
For patience that holds even when the day doesn't cooperate.
Dumortierite is a blue-violet borosilicate, often found threaded through quartz as fine fibrous inclusions, which is how most people encounter it without realising — pieces sold simply as blue quartz are frequently dumortierite quartz underneath the name. It was named for Eugène Dumortier, a nineteenth-century French palaeontologist, though the mineral itself has nothing to do with fossils.
At a glance it's sometimes mistaken for sodalite or even lapis lazuli, though its texture tends to be finer and more fibrous under close inspection.
Dumortierite is worked with for patience and for staying organised under pressure — a study and workplace stone more than a bedside one. It sits with the throat and third eye.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
Brief water contact only — avoid prolonged soaking.
