Chrysanthemum Stone — A flower in the rock
For growth that happened slowly, in the dark, before anyone could see it.
Chrysanthemum stone is a limestone or mudstone matrix that grew radiating clusters of celestite or feldspar crystals within it, millions of years ago, in patterns that resemble the petals of the flower it's named for. Almost all of it comes from a single province in China, where it's been prized for centuries and traditionally polished to bring the flower pattern into sharp contrast against the dark stone.
Each flower formed as minerals crystallised outward from a centre point inside solid rock — a process invisible until the stone is finally cut and polished.
Chrysanthemum stone is worked with for patience and for trusting a slow, unseen process. It sits with the root and heart.
Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.
The crystal inclusions are softer than the matrix — avoid water.
