Azurite — The deepest blue copper makes

For thinking that needs to go deeper than the surface.

Azurite is a deep, saturated blue copper carbonate that almost always grows alongside malachite, the two sharing the same copper-rich origin. Ground into pigment, azurite was one of the primary blues used in medieval and early Renaissance painting, before ultramarine — made from lapis lazuli — became more widely available. Left exposed to air and moisture over time, azurite slowly weathers into malachite, which is why the two are so often found intergrown in a single piece.

Its crystals can form in striking clusters, though most of what's sold is the massive, solid form.

Azurite is worked with for insight and deep reflection — the stone people reach for when a question needs more than a quick answer. It sits with the third eye.

Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.

Soft and copper-bearing — keep it dry and out of the sun.

Malachite — The stone of transformation

For change that's already happening, not change you're considering.

Malachite forms in banded green layers around copper deposits — the colour is the copper, oxidised. Cut across the bands and you get concentric rings like a target; cut along them and you get the swirling pattern that made it a favourite of Russian stonecutters. The Malachite Room in the Winter Palace uses two tonnes of it.

The Egyptians ground it for eye paint and mined it in the Sinai from 4000 BC. It's one of the oldest known pigments, and one of the most toxic — which is the part that matters to you.

Malachite is worked with for transformation and for drawing out what needs to surface. It sits with the heart. It has a reputation as an intense stone, and it earns it.

Sheri chooses every piece by hand, cleanses it, and charges it before it's packed here on the Gold Coast.

Important: never put this stone in water you intend to drink.
