Atlantisite is serpentine shot through with stichtite — the green and the vivid purple growing together in the same piece — and it comes from a single hillside in Tasmania. The name isn't a mineralogical one; a gem dealer coined it in the 1990s, drawn to the stone's unusual combination and its otherworldly colour pairing, and the name referencing the lost city stuck.

Stichtite itself is named for Robert Sticht, the metallurgist who first identified it at a Tasmanian mine in 1910.

Atlantisite is worked with for grounding paired with transformation — serpentine's steadiness holding space for the shift that stichtite is associated with. It sits with the heart and crown.
