Apatite is the mineral your teeth and bones are made of — the same calcium phosphate, in a different arrangement. The name comes from Greek apatáō, to deceive, because it turns up in so many colours it was constantly mistaken for other minerals. The blue-green from Madagascar is what most people mean when they say apatite.

It's soft, at five on the Mohs scale, which makes it the reference point for that number in the standard hardness test.

Apatite is worked with for motivation and clarity of purpose — it has a long association with appetite, both literal and figurative. It sits with the throat and third eye. Often suggested when the will is the thing that's missing.
